Bad girl Riri is back on the news again and this time for the right reasons. The 27-year old singer has just made history by being named the new face of Dior.
Rihanna will star in the fourth installment of Dior’s “Secret Garden” campaign which will see a number of models from different countries, clad in Dior creations, posing for a photo shoot at the palace of Versailles, the fashion house confirmed late Friday evening. The campaign’s which is scheduled to have its film and print run this spring, will see famed photographer Steven Klein taking photos of the models.
In addition to being a Dior girl in the highly anticipated campaign, Rihanna made history as the first black female to ever been chosen by the fashion house to front its brand. Other celebrities who have also been named as the face of Dior include South Africa’s very own Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, A-Lister Jennifer Lawrence as well as Marion Cotillard.
The new role comes as no surprise as she has in the past few years cemented her place as a style icon and she has also graced a number of fashion events which have been staged by Dior. The 27 year old singer was last year named Fashion Icon during the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards. Rihanna, a style icon as she is, downed an unforgettable sheer dress that was designed by Adam Selma and in November Tom Ford praised that Barbadian singer on his own blog.
"I was at the CFDA awards as I was receiving a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' .... and I have to say that Rihanna was for me, that night, one of the most beautiful women that I have ever beheld," Ford gushed.
